When it comes to clearing out layers of fall leaves, for some, a simple rake is enough to get the job done. For others, though, there’s a desire to clean up more quickly and conveniently (and with less effort). And for those folks, a leaf blower is the best tool for the job.

The problem, though, is that there are dozens of makes and models of leaf blowers from several manufacturers. How do you know which one to get? And more importantly, how do you know which one is right for you?

Well, at HY-C, we know outdoor power equipment. In fact, we manufacture an entire line of outdoor power equipment upgrades. We know what to look for in a good leaf blower, and in this guide, we want to share what we know with you.

We’re going to compare 4 of the best cordless leaf blowers on the market today. We’ll consider their ratings, their prices, their weight, their air speed, and more specifications to help you see how they stack up with one another.

By the time you’re finished here, you’ll be able to choose the right leaf blower for your yard size and budget.

Cordless Leaf Blower Criteria

Before we dive in, we should explain how we selected the four leaf blower models on this list.

For starters, each model here is cordless and battery-powered. You won’t find any gasoline or backpack leaf blowers here.

Aside from that, each leaf blower needed to satisfy two rules:

  • Each leaf blower needed at least 100 online reviews
  • Each leaf blower needed an average review score of at least 4.5 out of 5

As long as it met those standards, a blower could be considered for this list. Note too that any prices listed here include the tool itself, plus a battery and a charger.

With that out of the way — and in no particular order — let’s get into it.

The EGO POWER+ just looks powerful. And it is — the “765 CFM” in its name gives that fact away from the get-go. With top blowing speeds up to 200 mph, it’s tied for the most powerful leaf blower on this list (in terms of air speed).

The tool comes with two nozzles that provide a good bit of versatility: a tapered nozzle that concentrates air to a specific point for maximum power, and a spread nozzle that blows in wider swaths for more general leaf sweeping.

The POWER+ also features the longest battery life of any leaf blower on the list. Its 56-volt battery provides an average of 90 minutes of use — 15 minutes in turbo mode, and up to 150 minutes on the blower’s lowest setting.

On the downside, it is a bit heavy, clocking in at over 12 pounds (with battery). But with a respectable noise level of just 64 dB and a more than fair asking price of $299, the EGO POWER+ 765 CFM is, without a doubt, one of the best leaf blowers on the market today.

We try not to play favorites with lists like these, but the STIHL BGA 57 may very well be the best leaf blower in its class. It’s the lightest on the list, the quietest, and the most well-reviewed, all while somehow managing to be the cheapest. There’s a lot to love about this leaf blower.

For one, it comes with a unique, adjustable blower tube, allowing you to change its length to fit your height and the angle at which you feel most comfortable using the tool. It also comes with a rubber handle for a great grip and maximum comfort — a nice touch.

In terms of battery life, you can expect about 25 minutes on a full charge with the included battery. Admittedly, this isn’t the best offering out there, but STIHL does offer more powerful batteries than the one included with the BGA 57.

At just 7.8 pounds, it’s ultra light and comfortable to use. It’s also whisper-quiet, clocking in at just 59 dB. Its CFM rating of 365 is the lowest on the list, but with an air speed capability of 123 mph, it still packs plenty of power.

All in all, with over 2,300 reviews averaging 4.8 stars out of 5, it’s one of the most well-lauded leaf blowers available today. Not bad for its super low $199.99 price tag.

The Milwaukee M18 FUEL is an interesting tool. It neither outclasses nor greatly underperforms other models out there; rather, its understated, workhorse nature makes it an endlessly reliable, no-frills pick for folks who just want to get the job done.

When you press the power button, you’ll feel the kick immediately — the unit features what Milwaukee calls “REDLINK PLUS™” technology that helps achieve full power in under 1 second.

That’s not the only unique selling point of the M18 Fuel. Milwaukee stresses that it features an axial fan rather than a centrifugal fan, a feature that the company says helps to provide more power at farther distances (if you need that kind of thing).

Other than that, the M18 FUEL kind of falls right in the middle of the pack. Its 62 dB noise level is neither the loudest nor the quietest; its 450 CFM motor is neither the most nor the least powerful; and its 8.1-pound weight is neither the lightest nor the heaviest.

Rather, the Milwaukee M18 FUEL knows what it wants to do and just does it. Users seem to like the results, too, as this leaf blower has nearly 8,000 online reviews, averaging 4.7 out of 5 stars. If you get one for yourself, it certainly won’t disappoint.

We’ll end with a bit of a dark horse pick. But how could we not include a leaf blower with as fun a name as the “Leaf Blaster?”

This tool comes courtesy of Husqvarna, everyone’s favorite Swedish power tool manufacturer. They created this handheld, battery-powered blower to be a real competitor to commercial-grade, gas-powered backpack leaf blowers.

And by all accounts, it’s just that.

With an incredibly powerful 800 CFM motor with top air speeds of 200 mph, you definitely feel the kickback on this blower the instant you pull the trigger. And even with all that power, it doesn’t necessarily compromise on battery life, delivering over a half hour of work with its included 40-volt battery.

It even comes with a unique scraper tip attachment — a kind of plastic “flap” (for lack of a better word) that you attach to the end of the blower tube that allows you to zero in on cracks and crevices of all kinds to clear out leaves and grass clippings.

Admittedly, it’s a loud leaf blower, coming in at a noisy 79.4 dB. It’s also the lowest-rated tool on our list, averaging just a 4.5 out of 5 (though that’s still a fantastic score). Finally, it’s the priciest leaf blower here, with its $379.99 MSRP nearly doubling that of the STIHL BGA 57.

Still, its power is second to none. If you’re looking for a cordless leaf blower with commercial-level capabilities, the Leaf Blaster 350iB is built to impress.

Which Leaf Blower Should You Get?

These have been our picks for the top four leaf blowers of the year. Still having trouble deciding which one may be right for you? Here are some tips that may help.

If you’re buying on cost alone, the STIHL BGA 57 is absolutely your best option. At $199.99, it’s $100 cheaper than even the second-cheapest option here.

If you’re looking for pure power, the EGO POWER+ and the Husqvarna Leaf Blaster are what you’re after. With nearly identical CFM ratings and 200 mph air speed capabilities, they’ll blow even damp, clumpy grass and leaves with ease.

If you want a balanced, all-around option, check out the Milwaukee M18 FUEL Blower. It will get the job done time and again, season after season.
